BMI Foundation Continues its Fundraising Efforts for 2024 to Support Emerging Music Creators

Fundraising Goal of $50k by End of December 2023

New York, NY – December 5, 2023 – BMI Foundation, a 501(c)3 organization, continues its fundraising efforts to support the creation, performance and study of music. The nonprofit is committed to reaching a goal of $50,000 by the end of this calendar year to fund the many awards, commissions, grants and scholarships it will give throughout 2024.

BMI Foundation was started by employees of BMI in 1984 under the helm of founding president and BMI Senior Vice President and Special Counsel Theodora Zavin. While the Foundation was created as a separate public charity with its own Board of Trustees and corporate identity, it has received significant financial and in-kind support from BMI each year in honor of their shared mission to support creators of music.

“The Foundation’s unwavering commitment to supporting emerging music creators is only possible through the generosity of our donors,” said Deirdre Chadwick, President of the BMI Foundation. “As a result of the charitable donations received this year, we will be able to announce new scholarships and awards in 2024 that will spotlight diversity in music creation. We’d like to thank our peers in the music industry and patrons of the arts for their continued support and look forward to highlighting the next generation of talented songwriters and composers in the year ahead.”

BMI Foundation relies on the generosity of the music community to support its work, including individual and corporate giving and in-kind support in the form of consulting, program judging and career mentoring. Some of the annual awards and scholarships featured by application include the BMI Composer Award, BMI Future Jazz Master Award, Chris Trousdale Dream Awards, peermusic Latin Music Award, John Lennon Award, Dolly Parton Songwriter Award, Kavi Ohri Memorial Award, and the Peter Carpenter Fellowship. Many other awards, grants and scholarships are given throughout the year by invitation. All contributions to the BMI Foundation are tax-deductible to the full extent allowed by law.
