Los Angeles, CA - October 5, 2023 - Kendra Jae, the recipient of the 2022 BMI Foundation Charlie Feldman Award, will be opening for Victoria Monét’s The Jaguar Tour in her hometown of Sacramento, California on October 9th. Monét announced the lineup for her tour on her social media in September, which will also include performances by Alex Vaughn, Ambre, Lavi$h, Leon Thomas, Tanerélle, and Tone Stith.

A professional dancer, choreographer, singer, and songwriter, Kendra Jae began her career performing alongside greats like Beyoncé, Drake, and Gwen Stefani, as well as choreographing music videos for Chloe x Halle and Saweetie. In 2020, she released her first single “PER$ONA.” This was followed by her song “916,” created in collaboration with Bizness Boi, an LA-based producer whose work includes the Gold-selling “BELIEVE IT” with Rihanna and “Kick It” with Lil Nas X. Kendra Jae then released “YKT,” produced in collaboration with GRAMMY® Award winning producer Camper. In 2021, her release “Seesaw” with Saweetie from her Pretty Summer Playlist: Season 1 EP garnered over one million streams.

“Kendra Jae is a passionate, multi-faceted artist who understands hard work,” shared Byron Wright, Executive Director, Creative, Atlanta. “In addition to her honest and relatable music, her grind as a dancer on tour with Beyoncé with the ultimate goal of being an artist herself was something that inspired us to grant her the Charlie Feldman award. Her efforts are already paying off, and we can’t wait to see what she does next.”

The Charlie Feldman Award, established in 2021 in honor of retired BMI Creative Vice President Charlie Feldman, grants a prize of $2,000 annually to an emerging BMI songwriter in any genre. During his 31-year tenure at BMI, Feldman supported and worked with countless songwriters including The Neville Brothers, James Brown, the Holland Brothers, Carole King, Chip Taylor, Greg Allman, Rihanna and Nile Rodgers. Awardees for the Charlie Feldman Award are selected through a nomination process with a select committee of artists, writers, and BMI staff, headed by BMI Foundation Vice President and BMI Creative VP Samantha Cox.
