The BMI Foundation has awarded a first-ever tie for the Seventh Annual BMI Future Jazz Master Award. Argentina native and New School alum Cler Diaz will share the prize with Michigan State University's Ben Turner.
Two Winners share 2021 Charlie Parker Prize
Two winners were selected to share the top honors at BMI’s 32nd annual Jazz Composers Workshop held in New York City and featuring the best new big band and jazz orchestra compositions created in the workshop during the 2020-2021 session. Composers Chuck Iwanusa and Tracy Yang shared the prestigious Charlie Parker Jazz Composition Prize and split the award money.
2021 Future Jazz Master Announced
The BMI Foundation has awarded Caelan Cardello for the Sixth Annual BMI Future Jazz Master Scholarship. The $5,000 prize was announced as part of BMI's celebration of the National Endowment for the Arts Jazz Master Fellows at the April 22nd concert. Cardello is a pianist and composer at William Paterson University in New Jersey.
Dan Pugach Wins Charlie Parker Prize/Manny Albam Commission at BMI Jazz Composers Workshop Showcase
BMI’s 31st annual Jazz Composers Workshop concert, held at the Marjorie S. Deane Little Theater in New York City on June 12, featured the best new big band and jazz orchestra compositions created in the workshop during the 2018-2019 session.

August Arnold Awarded Fourth Annual BMI Future Jazz Master Scholarship

The $5,000 award was presented to Arnold at Broadcast Music Inc’s annual dinner and celebration of the National Endowment for the Arts Jazz Master Fellows in Washington, D.C. on Sunday, April 14th, 2019.

Berklee College of Music Awarded $5,000 Jazz Composition Scholarship
The BMI Foundation has awarded Boston’s prestigious Berklee College of Music with a $5,000 scholarship to support an undergraduate student demonstrating outstanding achievement in jazz composition. Harpist Nicolas Castañeda was chosen as the scholarship recipient based on academic and artistic excellence by Berklee’s Jazz Composition and Contemporary Writing and Production faculties.
