9th Annual Woody Guthrie Fellowship Program Announced

The opening of the 9th Annual Woody Guthrie Fellowship Program has been announced by Porfirio Piña, President of the BMI Foundation, Inc., and Deana McCloud, Executive Director of the Woody Guthrie Center and Archives.

The BMI Foundation, Inc., in cooperation with the Woody Guthrie Center, offers one short-term fellowship to support scholarly use of the Woody Guthrie Archives Research Collection in Tulsa, Oklahoma for research work related to Guthrie’s life, work, or contribution to American music and world culture. The postmark deadline for applications is February 7, 2014 for projects beginning in Summer 2014. Applications and information are available at Woody Guthrie Fellowship Program page.

Dedicated to the preservation and dissemination of information about Woody Guthrie’s vast cultural legacy, the Woody Guthrie Archives houses the largest collection of Woody Guthrie material in the world. Since its opening in New York City in 1996, the Woody Guthrie Archives have been a major success, becoming an important resource for the general public, musicians, singers, songwriters, scholars, and public and private cultural institutions wishing to access the research collection. Recently acquired by The George Kaiser Family Foundation, the Woody Guthrie Archives relocated to a new permanent home in Tulsa Oklahoma in early 2013, where the collection will remain accessible to researchers.
