BMI Foundation Awards 2024 Charlie Feldman Award to Cam The Artisan
Atlanta, GA - December 11, 2024 - BMI Foundation, Inc. awarded the 2024 Charlie Feldman Award to Atlanta-based artist Cam The Artisan. The Charlie Feldman Award, established in 2021 in honor of retired BMI Vice President for Creative Charlie Feldman, grants a prize of $2,000 annually to an emerging BMI songwriter in any genre.
Born and raised in Atlanta, Cam The Artisan grew from harmonizing in a youth choir to exploring the intersection of multiple genres including hip-hop, R&B, and a hint of Neo-Soul. His penmanship and poetic style, both of which exude vulnerability, are a constant in his music. Cam’s smooth and intentional approach to songwriting draws comparisons to J. Cole, Frank Ocean, and Childish Gambino.
About the award, Cam said, “I’m grateful to be recognized by BMI and presented the Charlie Feldman Award. This award fuels my commitment to create, share, and evolve in my journey ahead.”
Charlie Feldman was a tireless advocate for songwriters during his 31-year career at BMI. This award was created in his honor to celebrate his retirement, and is supported by his friends and colleagues in the industry. Among the artists and music creators whose careers he helped develop are the Neville Brothers, James Brown, the Holland Brothers, Carole King, Chip Taylor, Greg Allman, Rihanna and Nile Rodgers.
