BMI Composer Michael Gilbertson Wins Prestigious Bryant Commission

2013 BMI Student Composer Award winner Michael Gilbertson has also been awarded the Boudleaux Bryant Commission for classical composers. Gilbertson, 25, just completed a Master’s Degree in Composition at Yale University and recently visited Broadcast Music Inc.’s New York City office to meet with Deirdre Chadwick, BMI’s Executive Director of Classical Music.

Jean Carlos Almonte Wins Peermusic Latin Scholarship

Porfirio Piña, Director of the BMI Foundation’s peermusic Latin Scholarship, has announced that Jean Carlos Almonte is the winner of the 9th annual peermusic Latin Scholarship, a competition for original Latin songs and instrumental compositions. Almonte, a native of Dominican Republic and a student at Utah State University, received a $5,000 scholarship for his song, “No Me Puedo Mentir.”
