Peermusic Latin Scholarship Award Deadline Extended to April 1 for Student Composers of Latin Music

The BMI Foundation has extended the application deadline for the peermusic Latin Scholarship competition through April 1, 2018. Open to student songwriters and composers of original Latin music, the fifteenth annual program will award a $5,000 scholarship for the best song or instrumental composition submission in any Latin genre. Multi-platinum Latin artist and BMI songwriter Prince Royce serves as honorary spokesperson for the competition.

One of the few distinctions of its kind, the award was established in 2003 through the generosity and vision of peermusic CEO, Ralph Peer II. For over a decade, the program has nurtured promising musicians who have gone on to distinguish themselves in the fields of television, film, recorded music, and concert performance.

According to Carolina Arenas, Director of the peermusic Latin Scholarship competition, college students in the United States and Puerto Rico who are between the ages of 17 and 24 are eligible to apply. All words and music must be original, and online applications must be completed and submitted no later than April 1, 2018, 11:59 pm EST.
