Lennon Scholarship Winner Stops By BMI NY
Singer/songwriter Sydney Price, first place winner of the John Lennon Scholarships, stopped by the BMI New York office to perform some of her new songs for BMI executives. The 17-year-old high school student from Dallas, Texas, who was presented with a check for $10,000 during the BMI Pop Awards ceremony held in May, also treated staff to a performance of her winning song “Moon Lullaby.”
6th Annual Harrington Awards Honor Musical Theatre Writers
The BMI Foundation, Inc. is proud to announce the winners of the 6th Annual Jerry Harrington Musical Theatre Awards in recognition of outstanding creative achievement in the Lehman Engel Musical Theatre Workshop. Patrick Cook, Artistic Coordinator of the Workshop, presented certificates and cash prizes during a cocktail reception held June 13 at BMI’s New York office.

The Fellowship was established by the BMI Foundation and Carpenter’s family, colleagues, and friends to honor the late composer whose credits include television themes and scores such as The A-Team, Magnum P.I., The Rockford Files, Hardcastle and McCormick, Hunter and Riptide.

BMI Foundation Announces peermusic Latin Scholarship
Ralph N. Jackson, President of the BMI Foundation, Inc., and Ralph Peer II, Chairman and CEO of peermusic, announced today the establishment of the peermusic Latin Scholarship for young songwriters and composers. Funded through the generosity of the peermusic companies, the new $5,000 scholarship will be awarded annually through a competition for original Latin songs and instrumental compositions.
