BMI Foundation Presents Jerry Bock Award To A Talented Musical Trifecta
The BMI Foundation, Inc., a not-for-profit corporation dedicated to encouraging musical development, presented the 2009 Jerry Bock Award for Excellence in Musical Theatre to lyricist Jack Lechner, composer Andy Monroe and librettist Michael Zam at a luncheon held at the BMI offices.

Nine young classical composers, ranging in age from 17 to 26, have been named winners in the 57th Annual BMI Student Composer Awards. Newly appointed Awards Chair Ellen Taaffe Zwilich, BMI President & CEO Del Bryant and BMI Foundation President Ralph N. Jackson announced the decisions of the jury and presented the awards at a reception held May 15 at the Jumeirah Essex House Hotel in New York City.
BMI Foundation Awards 4th Annual Woody Guthrie Fellowships
The winners of the fourth annual Woody Guthrie Fellowship have been announced by Ralph N. Jackson, President of the BMI Foundation, Inc., and Nora Guthrie, Executive Director of the Woody Guthrie Archives (WGA) and Foundation. The program funds research fellowships for scholars to use the rich and extensive holdings available at the WGA in New York City.

The BMI Foundation, Inc. has announced that Columbia University graduate student Jeffrey Simno has won the 2008 Robert Sherman Scholarship. The $1,000 award is made possible through the generosity of Mary Poppins composer Robert Sherman and is given each year to a talented student composer studying musical theatre.
6th Annual peermusic Latin Scholarship Competition Opens
The BMI Foundation, Inc. has announced the opening of the 6th Annual peermusic Latin Scholarship, a competition for young songwriters and composers. Established by music publisher Ralph Peer II and generously funded by peermusic, a $5,000 scholarship will be awarded for the best song or instrumental composition in a Latin genre.
BMI Foundation, Pepsi Blue Carpet Bash Announce Scholarship Recipients

2009 BMI Student Composer Awards Competition Opens
The opening of the 57th annual BMI Student Composer Awards competition was announced on Thursday, November 6 by BMI President & CEO Del Bryant and BMI Foundation President Ralph N. Jackson. The competition, which is co-sponsored by BMI and the BMI Foundation, will award $20,000 in prizes.

The BMI Foundation has announced the opening of the 21st annual Pete Carpenter Fellowship for aspiring film composers under the age of 35. The Fellowship was established by the BMI Foundation and Mr. Carpenter’s family, colleagues, and friends to honor the late co-composer of television themes and scores including The A-Team, Magnum P.I., The Rockford Files, Hardcastle and McCormick, Hunter and Riptide.
